Taper Lok

Taper-Lok seal rings are designed to be utilised on most piping classes and are normally manufactured from the same materials as the flanges.

The gasket design uses a tapered shaped gasket which provides the additional benefit when the joint is tightened, and the internal pressure in the pipe system is increased the gasket continues to be pushed between the mating faces of the joint, increasing the integrity of the seal.

The design of the joints allow for the gasket to be visibly seen, giving the ability to say that the joint has been assembled correctly.

When dismantling the joints, it is necessary to create a greater access for the removal of the gasket, which can cause potential problems with the pipework.

There is a limited amount of potential misalignment that the joints can cope with. A uniform gap must be maintained to prevent any possible leakage. Observation of the joint during the tightening procedure must be constantly maintained.

Over tightening of the bolts can result in damage to the seal ring. It is important that the correct tightening procedures is followed at all times.
